Enabling Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

To ensure maximum security for user accounts, Scan My File has made Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) mandatory. 2FA provides an additional layer of protection beyond just your password by requiring a second verification step during login.

Overview:

Upon completing your sign-up, you will be immediately directed to the 2FA registration page. Here, a QR code will be presented for you to scan using your chosen authenticator app (e.g., Google Authenticator).

Steps to Enable 2FA:

  1. Redirected to 2FA Registration:

    • After signing up, you will automatically be taken to the 2FA registration page.

  2. Scanning the QR Code:

    • Open your authenticator app on your mobile device. If you haven't yet chosen or downloaded an app, we recommend Google Authenticator, though any trusted authenticator app will work.

    • In the app, select the option to add a new account or scan a new QR code.

    • Scan the QR code presented on the 2FA registration page.

  3. Verifying Setup:

    • After scanning, your app will generate a unique, time-sensitive token.

    • Enter this token into the designated field on the 2FA registration page in Scan My File.

    • Click 'Verify' or 'Continue'. If the token matches, your 2FA setup is complete!

  4. Login with 2FA:

    • Every time you log into Scan My File, after entering your password, you'll be prompted to enter the 2FA token.

    • Open your authenticator app to view and enter the current token.

Important Notes:

  • Always ensure your authenticator app is backed up or noted down in a secure place. This will be crucial if you ever lose access to your device or need to transfer to a new one.

  • The tokens generated by the authenticator apps are time-sensitive and usually last for only a short duration (e.g., 30 seconds). Ensure you enter the token promptly.

  • If you encounter issues with 2FA or get locked out of your account, please contact our support immediately for assistance.
